Who we are

At 108 Beads of Love, we believe that every small act of kindness can create a ripple that connects us all. Our mission is simple yet profound: to spread warmth, love, and inspiration through handmade crochet beanies, each interlaced with 108 beads. Each bead represents a unique story of connection, kindness, and human spirit.

This project began with a gift of yarn from Grammy, whose generosity sparked the creation of these special beanies. Her donation was the first thread in a journey that has grown to include countless others. From there, each beanie has been carefully handcrafted by volunteers who share in the mission of creating something meaningful and full of love. As a final touch, every beanie is paired with a special QR code. When scanned, this code brings the wearer to one of our 108 stories—each one a reminder of the kindness, hope, and compassion that binds us together.

These beanies are not just objects of warmth; they are woven with intention and purpose. They represent the power of connection and the beauty of sharing our stories with one another. Through this project, we aim to inspire others to spread love and kindness in their own communities and to remind us all that we are part of something much bigger than ourselves.

My journey with crochet began when I was just six years old. My mother saw potential in me and arranged private lessons with Maria Jose, an incredible teacher whose resilience left a lasting impression on me. Bound to a wheelchair, Maria Jose faced physical challenges yet created flawless crochet pieces with remarkable skill and grace. She not only inspired me but also showed how crochet could be a source of joy, purpose, and income.

Crochet runs deep in my family. My grandmothers and aunties all had a love for it, and later, my sister took it a step further by embracing the intricate art of Amigurumi. Her passion for crafting these charming, handmade creations has become a beautiful link in our family’s story, connecting our shared love for crochet with new and creative possibilities.
